Visionary Speaker Session Playback with Katie McCleary on Tenacity, Intention, Love and Healing Your Money Story
Episode 029

This episode is a playback of one of our most powerful Visionary Speaker Sessions yet with special guest and Impact Table Member, Katie McCleary who is a vivacious champion of creatives, entrepreneurs, and leaders who actively pursue their vision to improve people’s lives - and incredible human.

In this talk, Katie gets real and shares with deep vulnerability and powerful strength about her own journey and what it means to show up with tenacity, intention, and love - in life and specifically around tough topics - including one of my favorites, that I don’t think we talk about nearly enough, ESPECIALLY in the social impact space- that tough topic of money.

The takeaways?

✨ How we show up in the world is often fueled by our backstory, how aware we are of our backstory, what we were born into, the family we were raised in, how much healing we have done, and the values and beliefs that come from our backstory that color our world.

💰 We must heal your money story.  You are doing something innovative and creative and people want to belong to it.  But if you have a chip on your shoulder or an unhealed money story, that story is keeping you from being successful for an organization that needs you.

✍️ You may not presently be rich in economic capital, but look for the places you are rich - cultural, social, and creative capital and ask yourself what can I do with this?

💫  Humble yourself. Stop demonizing or idolizing others with wealth.  Money does not make an individual inherently good or inherently bad.

💸  Know your market. Know your buyer. Learn how to ask. Negotiate your compensation. Learn the language and practice in the mirror before you walk into for the ask. Show up with your back straight and your head tall to make the ask.
