Join us May 21, 2024, to hear from special guest (and Impact Table Member) Katie McCleary.

Katie McCleary is a vivacious champion of creatives, entrepreneurs, and leaders who actively pursue their vision to improve people’s lives.

A professional do-gooder herself, McCleary owns 2 professional development and strategy companies, is an author, a professor of leadership, a founder of an award-winning nonprofit, and a highly sought-after speaker. Inc. Magazine named her book, Bridge the Gap (McGraw-Hill, 2022), as 1 of 3 business books to read in 2022. Her podcast on NPR CapRadio, The Drive, captures the personal stories of the Sacramento region’s most visible leaders.

McCleary is also the founder of 916 Ink, an art-based literacy nonprofit that has transformed over 6000 vulnerable children and teens into confident authors who know the power of their voice and story. She was awarded the prestigious "Heart of a Hero” Award from Sacramento’s PBS channel. Mashable named her as a “Real Miss Americas” for her projects in low-income communities.

She has facilitated writing circles with more than 10,000 people, teaching diverse audiences the art and neuroscience of story and personal mythologies to fuel meaningful change, gain narrative distance and insight, and improve their relationships. She founded a creative writing program in Folsom Prison.

Currently, McCleary serves as faculty at Pacific University in the Masters for the Nonprofit Leadership program and on two advisory boards for the college. McCleary’s work has been featured by Inc., Forbes, NPR, Shondaland, Apple News, and more. McCleary took two TEDx stages in 2023, in Eustis and Gainesville, FL., garnering 2.6 million+ views between the two.
